To ensure the preservation of our fish stocks and to guarantee that every visit to Rookery Lake is enjoyable, we kindly ask that all members familiarize themselves with and adhere to the following rules. Failure to comply with these rules may result in a one-month suspension of your membership.
Before You Fish:
Ensure you are in possession of a valid EA Rod License.
General Rules:
Fire and Safety:
No open fires.
No guns or any form of weaponry.
Bait and Equipment:
No keep nets are allowed.
Nut-based baits are prohibited.
Particle baits are banned, with the exception of sweet corn and hemp.
Large unhooking mats must be used at all times to protect the fish.
Behaviour and Conduct:
Keep noise to a minimum to maintain the tranquillity of the environment.
Please drink alcohol in moderation for your safety and the safety of others.
No dogs or other animals are allowed on the premises.
Swimming is strictly prohibited.
Tackle:
No lead-core leaders or hook-link to be used.
No fixed leads.
No deliberately dropping off leads.
If you lose a rig in a tree or it break off, please report it to a bailiff so we can retrieve it and protect wildlife.
Use micro barbed or barbed hooks when carp fishing.
Bait-boats are welcome.
Photography and Fish Care:
When photographing your catch, please kneel and support the fish over a large unhooking mat. Standing while holding fish is not permitted, as carp are valuable and must be handled with care.
Do not disclose any catches to the angling press without permission.
Please use a good quality Carp antiseptic after capture.
Fishing and Membership Regulations:
Your membership card and fishing license must be carried at all times and presented upon request by fellow members, the bailiff, or an EA bailiff.
The gate combination is strictly confidential and must not be shared with non-members.
During busy times, a maximum of 2 rods may be used.
You may stay a maximum of 5 days and 4 nights in the same swim.
If using bank sticks, please ensure they are at least a foot from the sleepers.
Environment and Cleanliness:
All litter must be taken with you, leaving your swim clean and tidy.
Visitor Policy:
Visitors are permitted by prior arrangement only.
Liability Notice:
Rookery Lake is not responsible for any loss of property while fishing. Please ensure your vehicle is securely locked.
